The picture templates which carry the Madhubani art form are specially created considering a younger target audience. The idea behind this craft is to stimulate the interests of the children in the rich art culture of India. This kit serves the purpose of an introductory exercise in that direction. Once the child has completed these sand art pictures it would be a great idea to picture-frame some of them. The framed art will constant remind the child of its creative ability.The picture templates use Madhubani motifs which a child can identify with – the blazing Sun God – Surya as an example of tattooed art, a pair of fish (very popular motif), a richly adorned elephant and the very famous peacock with its royal plumage.Coloured sand is offered in 8 bright eye-catching colours. The sand has been sieved to a uniform mesh size and is provided in separate sachets. One needs to first identify the parts of the picture for each of the colours. This is a very important part of the art as the right colour combinations can really make the picture come alive. Having decided the target areas for a particular colour, one needs to apply the adhesive on these areas with the help of a brush – both of which are provided in the pack.
